This is my first blog post written in English. I have published a few English poems before, but only with an introduction in Norwegian, for a Norwegian audience.
I have recently joined an international Facebook group where we share and support each other’s work, in order to step up and become more visible (and audible) in the world. In honor of the people in that group, I have decided to post this in English in its entirety.
I would like to share with you one of my early songs, about a clown. It is a sad, but hopeful song. Hopefully it will resonate with some of you as well. Sometimes the best we can do is say it like it is and share it with the world.
And after all, it doesn’t have to be that serious.
This is a song, meant to be performed and sung, but I am not yet able to upload sound files here. Maybe I’ll find a way to do it soon.
I wish you all a wonderful week!
There’s nothing humorous in a scream;
there,s nothing beautiful in a scream;
there’s nothing artful about a scream –
a scream is just a scream.
There’s nothing glorious in my pain;
there’s nothing interesting in my pain;
there’s nothing fancy about my pain –
my pain is just my pain.
But there is something that I can do
to show you my world and give it to you –
I’ll take all the anguish and write it down,
and wear my words like a crown –
then play with it like a clown.
